Former President of the US-China Business Council, Ambassador Craig Allen joined the Advisor Board of the US-China Green Energy Council

From 2018–2024, Ambassador Allen led the US-China Business Council, which represents more than 270 American companies doing business with China, including America’s most iconic companies  from every industry such as Apple, GE, Amazon, Golden Sachs, Honeywell and etc.  Ambassador Allen successfully stewarded the organization through a remarkable period of challenge and opportunity in the US-China bilateral relationship.

Before that, Ambassador Allen had a distinguished 33-year career as a US diplomat, retiring from the US Commercial Service as a Minister-Counselor. His assignments included serving as US Ambassador to Brunei from 2014–2018. Six of his Foreign Service tours focused on China: he was Deputy Assistant Secretary for China in the Commerce Department’s International Trade Administration (ITA); Senior Commercial Officer in Beijing; Commercial Attaché in Beijing.

Ambassador Allen received a BA from the University of Michigan in Political Science and Asian Studies in 1979. He received a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in 1985.
